Certifications in Logistics

Certifications in logistics are useful tools to certify the reliability and organization efficiency of companies in the market.

The world of logistics is an increasingly competitive sector that demands very high-quality standards. Through certifications, a logistics partner can offer further guarantees on its structural soundness, financial solvency and ability to operate in compliance with regulations.

Certifications reflect the commitment of logistics operators to constantly improve the quality of their service, with consequent benefits for the customer who can count on an attentive and prepared partner, also reducing the risk of incurring financial penalties.

Let’s take a look at the most important mandatory and voluntary certifications in the logistics and transport sector.

HACCP certification: guidelines to safeguard quality

For companies operating in the food logistics sector, the main point of reference is the HACCP code – an acronym for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points -, the certification, compulsory by law, that encompasses the guidelines and requirements to be respected for the correct storage of food, whether fresh or packaged.

For companies in the food sector, it is important to use HACCP-certified warehouses for the storage of products of all kinds: from frozen food to fresh products such as fish, meat and dairy products to non-perishable raw materials, which in any case require the adoption of all measures in the area of food safety and hygiene.

The EC stamp for trade in products of animal origin

For activities that produce, handle or trade in foods of animal origin such as fish, milk, eggs and derivatives, the EC stamp is also mandatory. This is a health authorization that allows the circulation of such foodstuffs between EU countries.

The EC stamp is an EU approval assigned to the premises of an establishment for the production, marketing and storage of food of animal origin, according to REG. 853/CE/2004.

Certification in specific logistics for BIO products

For the logistics management of organic products, it is essential to use warehouses certified with the Organic Mark. Organic farming is a production method defined and regulated at EU level by EC Regulation 834/07 and EC Implementing Regulation 889/08.

In order to obtain organic certification of the warehouse, the following are required

  • the ISO 9001:2015 Quality System,
  • the HACCP declaration of conformity,
  • compliance with EC Regulation 834/2007.

ISO 9001:2015 certification in logistics

The ISO 9001:2015 certification indicates a structured organisation that meets certain quality requirements both in the internal management of work processes and in the service/product offered to the customer, in compliance with the regulations in force.

The ISO 9001:2015 quality system recognizes the company’s commitment to implementing efficient and optimized standard procedures that also perform in terms of problem-solving strategies, risk prevention, work ethics and social and environmental sustainability.

The ISO 9001:2015 certification, renewed annually following audits, contributes to increasing the company’s value and reputation with its customers; it also offers guarantees from the point of view of the choice of suppliers, selected according to strict quality standards.

A.E.O. Certification and market reliability

The recognition of A.E.O. Full – Authorized Economic Operator – is issued by the Customs Agency to operators who meet certain reliability requirements.

For those who trade internationally, it is important to know that the logistics partner is A.E.O. Full certified, a certificate awarded to those who operate in compliance with customs regulations and the criteria for the accounting system and financial solvency; for the recognition of this status, compliance with appropriate security standards must also be demonstrated.

The Importance of Certifications in Logistics

Certifications in logistics, from those required by law to voluntary recognitions, increase the credibility of the logistics partner, with considerable benefits for the customer who can count on a careful and meticulous operator.

MWM has the main certifications in the logistics sector, providing companies with HACCP-certified and authorized spaces with EC stamp IT 922 F; it can also store BIO products as it is certified with no. G680.

MWM also holds A.E.O. Full certification (No. IT AEOF 12 0504) and is ISO 9001:2015 certified, further confirming its organizational quality and reliability in international business markets.
